Know How to Give Thanks
1 Chronicles 29:14
“14 "But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this? Everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand.
Sometimes because of the difficulties we see and experience it taught us more to hoard rather than to bless others. But this passage of ThanksGiving expresses humility and confidence, knowing who is the real source of all thinks.
We have to understand that “joy” and “ThanksGiving” spring from the heart of humility. It’s displayed in the commitment and acknowledgment that all these worldly wealth and greatness is from God who is the real giver and we are just a trusted manager of God’s properties.
How to encourage others to join the vision
1. Acknowledge God’s OWNERSHIP. “But who am I”
It takes humility to ask and even accept the fact that we own nothing and we only God’s manager.
2. COLLECT as MUCH as you can to make the vision a success.
1 Chronicles 29:2
“2 Using every resource at my command, I have gathered as much as I could for building the Temple of my God. Now there is enough gold, silver, bronze, iron, and wood, as well as great quantities of onyx, other precious stones, costly jewels, and all kinds of fine stone and marble.”
3. Be an EXAMPLE to them first. Show and lead them to give.
1 Chronicles 29:3
“3 And now because of my devotion to the Temple of my God, I am giving all of my own private treasures of gold and silver to help in the construction. This is in addition to the building materials I have already collected for his holy Temple.”
4. Encourage them TO DO it likewise.
1 Chronicles 29:5
“...Now then, who will follow my example?
Who is willing to give offerings to the LORD today?"
5. JOIN the excitement as they GIVE with JOY.
1 Chronicles 29:6,9
“6Ready and willing, the heads of families, leaders of the tribes of Israel, commanders and captains in the army, stewards of the king's affairs, stepped forward and gave willingly... 9 And the people were full of a sense of celebration - all that giving! And all given willingly, freely! King David was excited”
