CRUCIBLE The Choices that Change Your Life Forever

It happens to all of us. We find ourselves in a moment of decision and don’t know what to do.  Sometimes we feel the pressure of knowing our entire future may ride on this one decision. Other times we don’t realize how significant it will be until later. In either case, how will we react? How can we avoid making a mistake? How do we find God’s will?

The answers to these questions usually aren’t found in that moment. They are cultivated in our hearts years ahead of time. Our choices aren’t made in a vacuum; they are a reflection of our hearts. What we decide flows out of who we are.

This series focuses on who we are. It’s named Crucible after the vessel in which substances are refined and transformed. When a crucible heats up, things happen to the elements inside it. The crucible doesn’t create substances, but it certainly changes them.   That’s a lot like the process God uses in our lives. When the heat is on, we find out a lot about what’s in our hearts.

Crucible: The Choices that Change Your Life Forever looks at six key moments in the life of David, the “man after God’s own heart.” God chose David for great purposes, and Scripture shows us why. When the heat was turned up in his life, David made choices that both shaped his heart and reflected what was already in it. Hi s decisions weren’t always the right ones, but even in his mistakes, he learned to lean on God. When our hearts are grounded in Him, our decisions in critical moments will reflect who He is.

The God who is after your heart will continue to help you cultivate a heart after Him-- that your character will continue to line up with His nature. As we set our sights on becoming more and more like Him, He will shape us and prepare us for His greatest purposes. What comes out of the crucible will be stronger, purer, and closer to His heart.

Moments of Decision
Your life is full of them, and how you respond can have lifelong impact. Israel’s shepherd king faced critical choices in the same areas we do, and we can learn a lot from how he handled them, God will use the choices we make to transform us into people after His own heart—and shape our live forever.
