God is MY... PEACE

Philippians 4:6-7
6Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

The peace of God or the peace which God gives that goes beyond our limited knowledge. The peace  particularly referred to here is that one which has as a result of the assurance of salvation through Christ Jesus, when we have no anxious care about the supply of our needs, and when we go confidently and commit everything into the hands of God.

SOME BASIC DEFINITIONS OF PEACE
· The absence of war or other conflict.
· An agreement or a treaty to end fighting.
· Freedom from quarrels and disagreement; harmonious relations.
· Public security and order
· Inner contentment; serenity like peace of mind.

But that is not the kind of peace Paul is talking about because these feelings can also be produced by a pill, alcohol, a nap, a generous inheritance, or even a deliberate deception. Godly peace has nothing to do with human circumstances; it cannot be produced on a human level at all.

HAVING PEACE IN ALL CIRCUMSTANCES
Worry is worthless. It cannot change the past or control the future. It only messes you up right now. It is an incredible waste of energy. It is a waste of creativity. When we worry about things, they get bigger and bigger. Here are practical ways God taught us on how to deal with it.

1.  UNDERSTAND THAT REAL PEACE COMES FROM GOD. Philippians 4:7 and John 14:27
We have to understand that the Lord of peace is the one that gives it. 2nd Thessalonians 3:16 says "May the Lord of peace himself always give you his peace no matter what happens." It is God’s personal involvement for each of us. Peace is the very essence of His nature.

2.  PRAY ABOUT EVERYTHING WITH THANKSGIVING. Philippians 4:7 and Colossians 4:2
Paul is saying, don't panic -- pray. If you stop worrying, just imagine how much free time you'd have. It would create a great vacuum, a void in your life to stop worrying. Pray during that time. God says unload all your worries on Him. God who made everything is able to handle all the details in your life. He can handle anything you give Him.

The Result:
7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard
your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

There is no problem that is too big for God's power
nor too small for God's concern.
