Being SENT:
Your Investment Of A Lifetime
1Corinthians 4:17
17 “For this reason I am sending to you Timothy, my son whom I love, who is faithful in the Lord. He will remind you of my way of life in Christ Jesus, which agrees with what I teach everywhere in every church.”
Being SENT as an apostle is a need and a call for today both in secular and church circles. You can be an apostle (being sent one) in your ministry, to other places or an apostle in your work place. We believe that the generation we live in is hungry to hear the forgiving grace and love of God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Why SENDING Someone Can Even Change Your Life
Paul did it after investing his time in the life of a young timid Timothy, now he has seen the fruit of his tireless training, coaching and mentoring.
1. Now he can send Timothy for a task after training him.
2. He knows that Timothy is ready to be sent and faithful man of God.
3. Timothy uses what he learned from the life of Paul in Christ.
4. Timothy can be trusted to continue what he had learned from Paul.
Here are 6 reasons why you should SENT someone!
1. To Develop CURRENT and FUTURE Leaders. 2 Timothy 2;2
2 “And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses
entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others.”
As a person who wants to invest in the future, this is the best investment you can do to others. The ability to remain objective, plan, strategize and keep your mind open to all ideas are just some of the few qualities needed for a future leader.
2. To Give Back To Others. 1 Corinthians 4:17
17 “For this reason I am sending to you Timothy
This is what we called ‘Paying It Forward” It’s always important to give back to others by preparing leaders for the coming generation. As person said it wisely: “At-risk young adults with a mentor are twice as likely to graduate college than those without mentors.” — Giveback
3. Achieve Personal Growth. Psalm 90:12
“Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.”
A study done that, people who had acted as mentors were SIX TIMES more likely to add more personally in the area of skills such as leadership, emotional intelligence and more that are what needed in future leaders. Mentoring gives you an opportunity to relay your knowledge to others through your experiences.
4. Learn to see things differently. Proverbs 14:12
“There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death.”
Teaching others to have a larger, better God given perspective in life for growth and maturity is important and what better way to get one from someone who walk longer and battle tested mentors.
5. Helps You Build Your Community. 1 Thessalonians 5:14
“And we urge you, brothers, admonish the idle, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with them all.”
When you help someone, they will thankful for it. Having people that believed in you is a great blessing and what you do is not a short term thing, it’s a lifetime change. This investment you make will not only drive others to do it to others also.
6. You will be blessed. 3 John 1:4
4 I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.
You will have no others joy seeing your mentee, doing the same thing you did to others. This is something that no amount of money can give you. Mentoring is a great experience for you and your mentee to learn from someone senior, experienced in a certain things in of life.
2 Corinthians 5:18-19 NIV
18 All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the
ministry of reconciliation: 19 that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of
reconciliation.
1. Think back to five years ago. Did you envision you teach or lead as it is today?
2. What’s the most important leadership lesson you’ve learned and how has it proven helpful?
3. How do you view your ministry? Can you train others to do what you do?
4. Are you ready to be deploy to your field as an apostle?
Things to DO!
