Arrogance vs Humility

Ways to tell if someone is Arrogant or Humble

 Proverbs 8:13
“Pride and arrogance and the evil way and the perverse mouth I hate. “

Arrogance is defined as:
“proud in an unpleasant way and behaving as if you are better or more important than other people.”

Arrogant people say they believe in humility, but their life says they believe in arrogance. Humility speaks the truth. Arrogance negotiates honesty based on what’s best for itself. If you’ve found someone who speaks the truth, give them a raise.

One indication that arrogance, rather than humility, dominates is how and when         people speak the real truth. People who use anger, bitterness, or feeling offended as fuel to speak the real truth are arrogant, not humble. They’re more concerned for themselves than others.

Ways to spot humility or arrogance:

  1. An arrogant person advance their own agenda by telling others what they want to hear.
  2. A humble person serve higher purposes – not themselves. They do and say what’s best for others.
  3. A humble person put organizational success before their own. Don’t trust leaders who put their own success above organizational success.
  4. A humble person aren’t climbing the ladder while sacrificing others; they are going down the stairs to lift up others.
  5. An arrogant person emphasize your responsibility to them.
  6. A humble  person focus on responsibility to others.
  7. An arrogant person don’t have time for people.
  8. A humble person value people.
  9. An arrogant person focus more on getting than on giving.

  13. A humble person brag about others.

  15. A humble person takes responsibility.

In our Crucible moment, we tend to blame others about the situation we are in right now  arrogantly SEES another’s sin but is BLIND to his own sin.  When we deceive         OTHERS we eventually deceive OURSELVES.

Application
1.    Humble yourself before God by admitting your sin.

2 Samuel 12:12
"You did it in secret, but I will do this thing in broad daylight before all Israel.'"

3.    Realize that the innocent will be affected.
The story of Achan is one of an example of the innocent was included in the                  punishment of the defendant. Joshua 7:20—26.

4. After receiving forgiveness, do not allow sin and quilt condemns you because you
        are free in Jesus.
Romans 8:1-2
"Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, 2 because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death."

A humble person strengthen the team and the  organizations.
An arrogant person use the team and the organizations for his own agenda.
