Be Mentored and Mentor Others!
Luke 16:10 (NIV)
"Whoever can be trusted with very
little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little
will also be dishonest with much.
“Whether you call it a
partnership, teamwork, or community, the main issue here is OTHERS. You have
been influenced BY others and now becoming an influence TO others.”
If you can still recall that
this statement is part of my sermon on bonding one Sunday and as we focus on
bonding people we are also touching the subject of training or teaching them to
be like Christ. After winning people for the glory of God our next task is to
put them in a small group where they will be processed for victorious Living. But there is one particular element that we
should not miss out and that is the role of the servant/leader who will teach and
care for them.
Sad to say we are lacking true
leaders that are willing to walk an extra mile, give time and energy to these people.
I believed that leadership starts here, walking an extra mile. Our text told us
that if we are faithful in what little things what God gave us He will make an
increase of it and I would like to use
this passage to encourage everyone to take the next step from leadership to
mentoring.
The Dictionary defines a
mentor as: a wise and trusted counselor or teacher: to serve as a trusted
counselor or teacher to (another person,) a role model: a person who serves as
a model in a particular behavioral or social role for another person to
emulate.
You will grow faster when you
are leading because it will challenge you to be one step ahead always to the
people that God has trusted you to look up to. And I believe that people in our church are looking
for these kind of leader. Not a leadership position doing only delegating –
sometimes online – but the personal touch that serves as a model.
Will you be this kind of a
person?
Are you willing to be mentored
to be a mentor to others.
Let us lead our people together
for God’s Glory!
